Kathleen Blanchard

Global General Counsel

Kathleen Blanchard is the General Counsel for Biocon Biologics. She leads the global legal function across both Advanced and Emerging Markets, including areas such as Corporate Transactions, Global M&A, Business Development, and Contracting Activities. Additionally, she manages the IP function, encompassing global IP Litigation and Settlements.

She has a proven track record of leading high-performing global teams, serving as a strategic partner to businesses. With over 25 years of experience in Legal, Compliance, and IP roles, Kathleen has worked both at prestigious U.S. law firms and as in-house counsel for major global pharmaceutical companies like Novartis, Genentech, and AstraZeneca. She also served as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary at Flatiron Health, Inc. (an independent subsidiary of Roche).

Before joining Biocon Biologics, Kathleen served as the Global Legal Head for Development and Medical Affairs at Novartis. There, she led a team of over 100 attorneys and legal staff, restructured the legal support model to enhance efficiency, and accelerated development timelines. She was also a member of global Novartis leadership teams.

Kathleen’s contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Harrison Tweed Award from the American Bar Association, the Human Rights Award from the National Immigration Bar Association, and the Philadelphia Bar Medal from the Philadelphia Bar Association. These accolades honor her work as President of the Asian American Bar Association of the Delaware Valley (AABADV) and its efforts to ensure due process for Chinese refugees.

Kathleen is a Georgetown University Law Center graduate and is licensed to practice law in several U.S. states.
